The OIT Help Desk takes the subject of computer security very seriously, and offers several services and applications designed to protect University computers from a myriad of virus, spyware, and data theft threats.
AntiVirus Software
All University-owned computers are required to have antivirus software installed and current when attaching to the University network, per Boise State’s IT policy.
Boise State University has a site license for employees for Symantec AntiVirus for both Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh computers. This license allows for installations on all University-owned devices, as well as employee personal computers.
Please note you will need to uninstall any antivirus software you have on a personal computer before installing Symantec AntiVirus.
University Employees
University employees can obtain Symantec AntiVirus software via a free download by contacting the OIT Help Desk (phone: 426-4357, email: helpdesk@boisestate.edu).
Students
Students can purchase antivirus software at approximately $25.00 via BroncoTec in the Student Union.
