Student Submission and Activity Reports for Financial Aid Verification

Summary

This article describes how to generate student activity and submission reports within your Blackboard course site to assist with financial aid participation verification requests. You will use there reports to answer the question sent to you by the Financial aid office :
“Yes, I have documentation that the student attended and participated up until ____date”
Or
“No, I have no documentation of attendance”
These reports can be used to make this decision but please do not send the reports in response to the financial aid request.

As of July 18th, 2015 additional reports are available to faculty which are designed to assist with verifying the total number of submissions and date of the latest submission by students within a Blackboard course.

While Every Blackboard course site is different, the below reports should assist you with determining the last date of student activity.

This report is part of Blackboard’s financial aid reporting add-on and was designed specifically to meet Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4) rules established by the U.S. Department of Education.  This report evaluates participation in areas such as assignments, assessments, discussion boards, journals and blogs etc.

  • Click Evaluation in the Course Management navigation menu. The Evaluation menu will expand to show additional items.
  • Click Course Reports.
  • Click the arrow next to Single User Participation Report and click Run in the pop-up menu.
  •  Select a start date of the beginning of the semester and end date of the current day for the report window and click Submit. The report may take a few minutes to generate depending on the number of students in the course and the date range provided.
  • When the report completes, click Download Report to save it to your computer.

If the Single Course User Participation report comes back empty then the students you viewed have had no interaction in the areas this report evaluates.  The Course Activity Overview report, which you may request below, may provide you with additional information pertaining to the course.
